Generations Music Together® Classes (Mixed-Age, 0-5 years)

Share the joy of making music with "grandfriends".

Returning for the Fall of 2026!

What to expect in your Generations Music Together® Class:

  • This is a Mixed-Age Class (0-5 years) that takes place at an assisted living facility and includes the senior residents of the facility.
  • There will be 6 to 12 children in each 45-minute class, which meets once a week, for the duration of the seasonal session.
  • Songbooks accompany each session, distributed in your first class, with instructions for downloading recordings of the collection. (CDs and full sheet music are available as well.)
  • The residents are invited to sit in a circle around the Heartsong families, participate in any way they can, and join in on the fun and music-making.
  • These classes create a joyful connection among generations and engage the residents' minds and bodies, helping the elderly participants to stay mentally and physically alert and stir up cherished musical memories.
  • The classes also inspire the facility staff members to weave music into everyday interactions with the elders.
  • Heartsong families also benefit from the weekly interactions with the residents, who become like an extended family.
