Who: Newborn to 5-year-old children... and the grownups who love them®
What: Songs, chants, movement, props, rhythm instruments, and joy
When: 45 minutes to 1 hour, 1 day/week, for a seasonal session
How: Trained & registered teacher, illustrated songbook, and downloadable recordings
In a Mixed-Age Music Together® class, you'll find a diverse community singing, dancing, and playing together. The whole family—parents, grandparents, nanny—is welcome for this incomparable "together" musical experience. Little ones enjoy watching and imitating older ones; older children, in turn, learn by leading and sharing ideas. Each participant is accepted at their own level, singing, moving, chanting, listening, watching, or exploring. You'll hear laughter, a blend of voices, and you will see smiles and looks of amazement, curiosity, and love on the faces around the room. While some kids sit in the laps of their caregivers, others explore the space, the community, and their own movement; either way, important learning is taking place. The young child's brain is twice as active as the adult brain, and each child is soaking up the environment effortlessly, without fatigue, often reenacting the class once at home. Class FAQs
Illustrated songbooks and recordings accompany each seasonal session as a cornerstone of the Music Together program. They are distributed in the first class, with instructions for downloading the recordings, and encouragement to use them regularly. Twelve song collections cycle every 3 years; learn more about our award-winning music!
"I love the welcoming and stimulating environment that has given my infant child more opportunities to grow and develop. It has been great having mixed ages in the group so the younger children can learn from the older children and the older children can learn how to model and lead the younger children."
"I have recommended Heartsong Music to all of my friends with twins or multiple children. It is a wonderful activity that one parent can manage with more than one child of any age - it's a safe, childproof venue, that respects all types of learners."
"I love the sense of community around music - everyone participating and watching the kids also learn and grow."
