Music has been deeply woven throughout all parts of my life. Many of my best childhood memories revolve around music: singing with my grandmothers; dancing in recitals; studying piano and violin; performing in high school musicals; participating in vocal ensembles. My parents included music in our everyday life and provided me with a strong foundation.
While still singing and dancing, I earned degrees from Cornell University and Rochester Institute of Technology. I worked as a physician assistant in orthopedic surgery for over a decade before deciding to spend more time at home with my little ones. But even during all those busy years in the hospital, music remained in my life.
Perhaps the most special musical moments I’ve experienced have been with my own daughter and son. I have been singing to them since before they were born. On this wild ride of parenthood, my husband and I have learned that music can help in so many ways! It can relieve fears, stop tears, stimulate giggles, inspire growth, create peace and bring great joy.
My Music Together® journey began in Boston in 2010 when my daughter and I took our first of many classes. When we moved to Austin in 2012, I immediately found Heartsong and started taking classes here. In 2015 I was incredibly fortunate to join the Heartsong staff as a teacher. After all these years, I have a deep appreciation for Music Together and Heartsong, and I know how rich the musical rewards are. I absolutely love making music together with families, and I can’t wait to meet you and your children!
Liz has completed Music Together’s advanced training, Certification Level I. Congratulations Liz!
"Liz is a wonderful music teacher. Her classes are lively, interactive, and FUN! She draws her students in with her ability to sing, dance, and interact while catering her songs to the particular needs of the children in the class. She has excellent communication skills with the parents and the students and genuinely wants her students to grow and learn in her classes. I can't say enough good things about her! We love her!"
"Liz is such a warm, glowing presence in the room! The children are drawn right in to her and she made us feel so welcomed every time we came! She even gave my daughter her very first and only Valentine's Card (hand made) which we will cherish for years to come!"
"My four year old and I attended an Intergenerational music class (Generations) with Miss Liz. She is a fabulous teacher! She is energetic and very musically talented. She is able to bring many different personalities together to make a fun and unique class experience."
"Liz made an impression on me at our second class when she knew mine and my child's name the moment we walked in. She was so warm and inviting and made our class comfortable from the very beginning! She was engaging, fun and creative with the music which made every class exciting and enjoyable!"
