Some of my favorite memories as a child include dancing and singing in the kitchen with my mom and sister, family car rides being accompanied by the eclectic musical favorites of my dad, and dinners with classical music in the background. Musical theater was also something we enjoyed as a family, whether it was attending performances or my own experiences performing from kindergarten all the way through high school, and so it seemed totally normal that one could just spontaneously break into song in the middle of one’s day.

After attending the University of California – Santa Barbara and earning my bachelor's degree in Religious Studies, I earned my master’s and rabbinic ordination from the Jewish Theological Seminary of America in New York, concentrating in pastoral care. My rabbinate is rooted in partnering with people to build community and live meaningful lives, infusing every day moments with being fully present and noticing the holiness that is all around us, just waiting to be noticed. I love that I get to lead Tot Shabbat services as a rabbi at a local synagogue, having served there since 2014, and create opportunities for children and their grown-ups to sing together, be present fully with one another, and sing together about our lives and traditions. For me, Music Together®’s philosophy is in total alignment with how I facilitate other family musical experiences.

This is one of the reasons I loved being a participant in Heartsong’s classes with my own children and why I jumped at the opportunity to go through Music Together’s training in the summer of 2025. Experiencing for myself how breaking into song randomly throughout my day (just like in my beloved musicals!) could break up tension at bedtime (it’s hard to lose your temper when you sing about brushing your teeth!) or give me tools and permission to be silly with my child in a way that felt natural to me was invaluable. I STILL use these skills with my family, and my children’s love of music only continues to grow based on the building blocks we established with Heartsong. The music collections and relationships with beloved teachers continue to be something we enjoy years after any particular class, and I’m delighted to now get to be a part of facilitating these experiences for other families.
